Stress and Weight Loss
By Brian Gallichan
Weight loss can be seriously affected by the amount of stress a person has in his or her life.
Stress varies in intensity and can be caused by such things as traffic, kids, relationships, workplace issues, sickness or death in the family, as well as a whole host of other situations.
Stress can cause serious physical ailments including increased blood pressure, heart attack, stroke, colds, flu, cancer, and other diseases.
When a person is stressed out about something, his body secretes a substance called cortisol. Cortisol is a natural hormone that is necessary for the healthy operation of a person's body.
The problem arises when the body secretes increased amounts of coritsol. Stress causes the body to secrete increased amounts of cortisol, and increased amounts of cortisol cause the body to gain weight, particularly in the abdomen.
The best way to reduce stress is to workout on a regular basis. Sometimes a long walk will take stress away from a person's life.
For this technique to work, a specific time needs to be set aside each day to walk. This will allow you to simply stop whatever it is you are doing, and walk away from it all, at least for a time.
The longer the walk, the longer you get away from it all. This is how you should train your mind to think. Often, people feel relaxed, calm, and stress-free after this walk.
