Metabolism and Weight Loss
By Brian Gallichan
Metabolism and weight loss go hand in hand. Your metabolic rate is the rate at which your body uses energy. In other words, metabolism is the process of burning calories.
The slower your body burns calories, the more work you will need to do to lose weight, and the faster your body burns calories, the less work you will need to do to lose weight. This article lists some ways to increase metabolism.
The best way to speed up your metabolism is to begin a weightlifting routine. Lifting weights builds muscle and sheds fat. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism, and consequently the less fat you will have.
Other exercise, such as walking or jogging will help to speed metabolism only temporarily while you are actually performing the exercise.
Weight lifting on the other hand, speeds even your resting metabolism, and that is why weight lifting is far superior to aerobics when it comes to weight loss.
Another way to speed up your metabolism is to increase your water intake. If you are dehydrated, your body will store fat because you will have no water inside of you to flush out the toxins.
Furthermore, dehydration causes body temperature to drop, which is another reason the body stores fat. You should be drinking enough water to make your urine clear.
This is the only accurate way to determine if you are drinking enough water. Do not rely on some special number of ounces that is supposed to work for everyone.
