Meat and Weight Loss

By Brian Gallichan

Meat is used in weight loss diets, especially low carbohydrate diets. The assumptions are that that in order to lose weight a person must increase his protein consumption, and that meat is the best source of protein to eat for weight loss.

Weight loss does not take place simply because a person increases his protein intake. Weight loss happens when a person burns more calories than he consumes.

Some meat, such as salami, pepperoni, ham, bacon, and fried chicken is very high in calories, and if a person were to increase his intake of this meat, he would surely not lose any weight because it is likely that he would not be burning more calories than he consumes.

Secondly, consuming meat is extremely hazardous to your health. Meat clogs the arteries, and rots in the colon when eaten. Meat poisons the bloodstream and is known for causing all kinds of maladies, not the least of which is cancer.

Finally, meat is a worthless source of protein. Yes, it is high in protein, but this protein will not be absorbed in your body because it is altered during the cooking process.

It does not matter how many grams of protein a food contains. What matters is how many grams of protein are being absorbed into your body. More protein will be absorbed into your body from eating raw seeds and nuts than from eating meat, and you will not be clogging your system in the process.
